Live Around The World – Tricky Earnings Setup for SAP

by Sven Herold (SAP) on April 27, 2011

SAP will announce its results for Q1 tomorrow Thursday, April 28. As everytime, we will have appearances with our Co-CEOs Jim and Bill on TV throughout the day. However things are more challenging this time, since we have to accomodate a different setup with Jim being in Palo Alto, California.

As always the day starts with the official press release, which will be distributed to the media at 7 am CET. As you can imagine, there is a bunch of people from Media Relations as well as Investor Relations working tonight on last changes … This time we have directly at 7:20 am CET our first TV slot with Jim – from Califorina live to the London CNBC studios. The signal will be transmitted via a satellite truck uplink from Palo Alto, CA – then fibre to London BT Tower. (For the experts: We are this time using Galaxy 18 K15 Slot A, 9 MHz (US domestic satellite) and ARQIVA E/BIRD 9A OU 2 (MUX) TXP 77). We expect a minimum of three seconds delay, which will make things not easier… After CNBC, we directly switch to Bloomberg, then Reuters (both London) and then German network n-tv via downlink in Cologne. Last broadcast ís around 11 pm PST – then Jim will get some sleep.

Bill takes over in New York with CNBC Squawk Box US in the morning at 6:40 am EST, followed by CNBC TV 18 India, CNN international, CNN Money and Bloomberg TV as well as Bloomberg Radio later the US afternoon. In contrast to Jim, Bill will visit all studios live in person.

There is lots more but TV, a press call and an analyst call with both Bill and Jim, several print interviews, talks with bloggers and key influencers. The media relations colleagues in the regions around the world are talking with their local key media contacts as well.

Let’s see how all works out. Attached is the final broadcast schedule.
